Majority of the time when I ask people how they are doing on a casual day, they will say “I’m exhausted” or “There’s just not enough time in the day.” They feel overwhelmed, overworked, and feel like they have no time of their own. It’s the sad truth that is so very common.
Do you deal with the same? Do you feel like you are always on the go and caring for others? Do you take the leftovers, the remaining few minutes of the day, the moments here and there to pause and take a deep breath? I hope that you find some relief!
That’s why this week’s post is focusing on how to get more YOU time of out of the day. I want to make sure you know how to take a deep breath and how to pause and relax your muscles so that you can mentally and physically get through the week.
If you are like, you probably spend a lot of time in the car. Sometimes with little people in the back seat and sometimes alone. No matter what the situation, take a segment of your commute to turn the radio off, turn distractions off and to listen to the sweet noise of silence for a few minutes. Take a few deep breaths and enjoy the site of where you are driving. Be safe in your car, but take a few minutes to mentally calm down.
Another way to get some you time in the day is to be intentional about it! There are only 24 hours in the day. Sorry, we don’t get more. Take 15-20 minutes, possibly before bed at night, after dinner, during your cup of morning coffee, to reflect on all that you are thankful for. It might be the rest you had or the friend you saw, or the weather. Whatever it is, take a moment to be grateful and to focus your mind on positive things!
You also might have to say “no” to something here or there. If you tend to take on too much, say “yes” all of the time and fill your day with back to back meetings, try to say “no thank you” to something! Use the extra time to call an old friend or have an extra cup of coffee or tea. It might be nice to not have a few minutes of your day scheduled.
Lastly, be intentional! If it’s hard to get a few moments in here and there during your day, look towards the weekend and take a day for you. Sleep in late, do something you love, go for a run or walk, have a treat from the local bakery, celebrate YOU and all that you do in this life!
Being able to have some you time and some moments of quiet during the day is beneficial for your well-being, your stress and your emotions in general. I hope that you can find and enjoy these moments as your week goes by.
