With all the running around we do during the holiday season, it’s easy to forget a few things. Whether it’s an ingredient for a dish we’re making or that card you forgot to send to your new neighbor.
Here are some tips for not getting caught empty handed:
- Throughout the year, stock up when you see a sale on the following: candles, journals, picture frames, vases, bubble bath, reusable tumblers, travel mugs, and socks. These types of gifts are great to have on hand for the next door neighbor, teacher, librarian, your hair dresser, etc. And, you save yourself some money not paying full price during the season.
- Gift cards are another great item to keep on hand, for any occasion, not just the holiday season. Gift cards are perfect gifts for your friend’s birthday that may have slipped your mind or the garbage collector. And, if you don’t find any one to give them to – you can always keep them for yourself. They never go to waste!
- Coffee and Tea! If you are running in to grab a coffee from the local coffee shop, grab a bag of coffee or a box of tea. This is another great gift for any one on your list. And again, if you don’t find someone to give it to, coffee and tea won’t go to waste.
- Stock up on frozen foods. The time of year is so busy, it’s hard to keep up with cooking yourself and your family a decent dinner. For the days that you’re extra busy, make sure you have some frozen meals on hand. Also, while you’re grabbing those frozen meals, stock up on butter, flour, sugar, salt, broth, and any other staples you may need for recipes.
- Drinks are another good item to stock up on. If wine is on sale, grab an extra bottle. Wine makes a great hostess gift, as does craft beer. If you know you’re heading to a holiday party, a nice selection of craft beers or a bottle of wine makes the best gift.
- Tape seems to be one of those things that either goes missing or runs out at the worst moment. Grab some extra rolls of tape so you don’t get stuck!
Keeping yourself organized by stocking up throughout the year will make your holiday season much more enjoyable. Rather than running around grabbing last minute items at crowded stores, you can relax and actually enjoy this time of year.
And don’t forget those after the holiday sales! This is the best time to get a head start on next year! Grab those discounted ornaments and wrapping paper. Save money and time.
Most importantly, have the best holiday and the merriest Christmas.
We wish you and your family a seasons filled with joy, cheer and love.
