I am so excited that spring is on the horizon! Actually the first day of spring is Sunday, March 20. So…happy spring!

With the entrance of spring come nicer weather, the ability to spend more time outside, t-shirts and shorts and starting to clean up and prepare for the summer. It’s one of my favorite times of the year. That said it is also a great time of the year to get moving!  The time is now to get outside and to enjoy the weather while you start getting active.

Your health is vitally important both physically and mentally so with spring on the horizon I encourage you to get outside and to get active.

Need some ideas on how and where to start?  I hope that reading this post will be step one.

Next, just get outside.  It’s ok if it’s stepping out of your house or apartment and walking down the block but just take those first few steps.  Try to pick a nice sunny day and grab a coat if need be.  There’s nothing worse than going for a walk and being cold. Make sure you wear comfy shoes too and take a loop around your neighborhood or block.  Getting fresh air and admiring the outdoors during this time of year is such a beautiful thing!

Need another idea?…Grab a bike!  Either dust off your bike that’s been in the garage all winter or go to a nearby bike store and rent a bike.  Don’t forget your helmet!  Ask around for a recommendation for a bike path or route that ranges from 20-40 minutes. Both your body and mind will thank you for getting a little exercise and riding along your community.

Fourth, meet your friends or family outside for a coffee, lunch or a date at the nearby park.  Socializing outside can be of great benefit to not only your health but for the health of your friends and family as well.  You might find you have different things to talk about and you can soak up the sun-rays (including some Vitamin D) while you are outdoors!

Lastly, plan an outing outdoors.  Cities like Dallas and Ft. Worth have dozens things to do outdoors including the Nasher sculpture garden, Klyde Warren Park, the Katy Trail, White Rock Lake, the Stockyards, the Ballpark or Six Flags in Arlington, etc. Pick a place that is nearby your house and meet your family or friends to get out and to enjoy a venue.  Let’s take advantage of all that our community offers!

I hope that you enjoy your spring and do get out and get moving. If you have any questions or concerns about your health or getting outdoors, please contact us today.  We would be happy to talk with you further!  We want for you to be the healthiest you can be!
